Recent research shows children are being diagnosed with more food allergies.
Some doctors think children need to be introduced earlier to certain high risk foods like wheat, soy, milk and eggs.
A local allergist says many experts used to think that parents were introducing those types of foods to children too early. Studies now show that slowly introducing the foods at an early age would help prevent food allergies.
"There are a lot of countries with less allergies. It has to do with how they introduce foods. Maybe earlier - not later," says Dr. David Edmunson.
Some experts believe that we're keeping things too clean--and children aren't exposed to enough bacteria and viruses. That could weaken one's immunity to sickness.
Dr. Edmunson says the best advice in preventing multiple allergies in children is diet, exercise and getting the right nutrition.
