Returning from a world tour and an appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman, Marty Sammon brought his jazz skills back to our area.

After driving overnight straight through our winter storm, he hasn’t left the piano since. Earlier, he stopped by the Primrose assisted living facility to share an era of music that’s never forgotten.

Marty has made numerous trips to Central Wisconsin, and he keeps coming back because of the eclectic atmosphere which breeds support for his music.

Marty told us, “When you do what like, you got to do it all the time. You can’t take time away from it. That’s the only way you get better. It’s also the reaction I get from people around here. They love the music and I enjoy playing for them more than ever.”

Later in the day Marty played a private show at Basil in Weston. He shared his tricks of the trade, and even taught an up and coming young artist some jazz.

After the stop here, he’ll be headed to Louisiana to meet up with Buddy Guy and his gang. They’ll play a number of jazz shows.
