UPDATE: Work on Wausau's Grand Ave. Expected to Finish Oct. 3

A major road project on one of Wausau's busiest thoroughfares is expected to wrap in the next few weeks.

Improvements to Grand Avenue in Wausau began in late April. Wednesday, a Department of Transportation spokesperson said the work is expected to finish Oct. 3.

Grand Avenue has remained open during the work, however, traffic has been reduced to one lane in each direction.

The multi-million dollar renovation project focused on upgrades and safety measure for bicycles.

The project is expect to cost $2.9 million. Eighty percent of the project will be funded by federal transportation fund. The remaining cost will be paid by state and local funding.
