Many of us may ride our bicycles for fun- but riding them 1700 miles? That’s just what one Wisconsin Rapids man is doing, and its all for a great cause.
Matt Stoltz, a University of Madison student, is riding his bicycle through 8 states. eventually ending up in West Palm Beach Florida. The ride is called the One World, One Team, One Ride.
The ride is to raise money for kids in under privileged countries to get sporting gear- like soccer balls- things they would not otherwise be able to obtain.
Matt left on his trip Sunday morning, and he says its something he has been looking for to for months. “The training aspect and the fundraising aspect I have been working on for the past 11 months. Alot of work went into this behind the scenes. Getting the sponsors, and support from the community made this trip possible.”
The organization matt is riding for is called National Alliance for Youth Sports. The funds raised will go toward to the group, who in turn will provide children in third world countries with sports related items.
Matt says his ride should take about 37 days, and he plans to ride around 60 miles a day.
When asked if he is nervous for the trip, Stoltz replies, “No, not at all actually, I’m just really excited!”
