Kids in Wis. Rapids got the chance Wednesday to be engineers for the day.
Eight students participated in the 4-H National Youth Science Day, where they were challenged to build miniature "eco-bots." The materials? A pager motor, button battery, tooth brush head, pipe cleaners, cups and straws. Their robots were then given the task of cleaning up a pretend toxic spill made of rice and seeds.
The goal of Science Day is to build young people's problem solving skills and encourage them to pursue careers in science.
