Voters in Weston said no to a proposal to raise taxes to pay for services, including an expanded bus line.

The referendum asked if taxpayers would pay 65 cents more for each $1,000 of value in their home. It would have allowed the Village of Weston to raise $775,000 to fill a deficit. That money would go to pay for public transportation- like the village's bus service as well as police and fire service.

The Village Administrator, Daniel Guild, says they'll now have to find ways to balance the budget. "There will be some cuts. To what those cuts are, to what degree, when they will happen, we will have to react to and plan for at a later day."

The village will be holding a financial meeting on Monday night to discuss ways to fill the deficit.

The administrator also says the bus service will continue running through the first of the year.
