The city of Wausau hosted the second annual WinterFest Saturday. Thousands of locals flooded the 400 Block and neighboring businesses to enjoy more than a dozen free activities, including an Olympic size snow sculpture complete with a slide.
But if sledding is not your speed, there was still plenty of fun to be had WinterFest. There was ice skating at the rink on the 400 Block complete with free skate rentals, courtesy of Shepherd and Shaller. For those who needed to warm up indoors, the Center for Visual Arts had a craft corner and just down the block there was a gingerbread house contest at the Great Hall. Kids could also decorate cupcakes at St. Paul's UCC Community Center and everyone was welcome to sample homemade Chili from local restaurants at the Chili Contest. Free hot chocolate and horse drawn wagon rides were also be available all day long.
