NAOMI, Everyone Has a Place Task Force, is the committee that's fought to keep bus routes to the Village of Weston is giving the go-ahead to a compromise. The plan cuts the bus service from 12 routes a day to 7.

In a press release, sent to NewsChannel 7 on Tuesday evening, NAOMI says it will support the idea and not hold the village to the 12-routes per day that were required in earlier legislation.

It was voted down a week ago, but now, the Village of Weston is trying to figure out how to keep bus service in the community.

Monday night, board members approved keeping the service, but cutting down on the number of routes to meet their budget.

Village of Weston Administrator Daniel Guild says the village board has been working to resolve this issue so that both sides are happy. "Weston is required by ordinance to provide 12 runs per the referendum in June. The city of Schofield only has money for seven runs. We feel an appropriate compromise would be to contravene the ordinance."

The Village of Weston has worked to solve their public transportation situation for months, but now they may have a solution. The plan cuts the bus service from 12 routes a day to seven. That change may be difficult though.

The administrator says he hopes the 7 route system will be going by the first of the year.

Rothschild still has to approve the plan. It's still unclear how much money the new model will cost.
