Selection Sunday is just days away and as we prepare our brackets for the start of March Madness staff at the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point are already busy thinking hoops as they prepare to host the men's NCAA division III Sweet 16 Friday.

The Pointers are taking on the Emory Eagles. Tickets went on sale Tuesday at 8 a.m., but staff say students were camped as early as 5 a.m. to buy tickets. So far, they're sold more than 1,800 and still have about 700 left, but they're going fast.

Athletic director Daron Montgomery says they expect packed stands at the Quandt Fieldhouse Friday night.

Nearly 2,600 fan are expected to attend the game. Accommodating for a group that size is no small feat.

Thankfully, UWSP has known for two years they would host the Women's NCAA Division III Championship, so extra prep was already underway when they learned they would host the Mens round three and four sectionals.

"We had already planned to partner with facility services and protective services to host,” explains Montgomery.

Besides added staff and security, the campus had to undergo a bit of a makeover.

"As you walk around campus you'll see street poll banners, you'll see logos you'll see banners on buildings. It's just a neat way the NCAA likes to activate their brand at a championship."

Parking also had to be figured out, but with students going on spring break Montgomery assures fans there will be plenty of parking spots available.
