If you want voters to pass a referendum in the 21st century, then you have to know how to attract the attention of 21st century voters.
In Rhinelander that was accomplished by community members who took it upon themselves to create a Facebook page and Youtube video encouraging people to support the referendum.

Superintendent Roger Erdahl says he is grateful to the community for stepping up to get the word out.

"I was very pleasantly surprised to see that a group of citizens got together and decided to make an own independent effort. They utilized social media quite a lot so it was an almost instant communication to hundreds if not thousands of people in the district." Erdahl said.

When a previous referendum passed in 2010, the district was able to improve its physical education programs as well as enhance an existing computer lab. Superintendent Erdahl says he hopes that this referendum will allow the district to continue maintaining programs previously put in place.
