A local store that offers shoppers original items at an affordable cost is now giving senior citizens a place to share their talents.

The Talent Shop in Rib Mountain has been up and running for more than 30 years. Those in charge of the store say it is busier than ever, thanks to the help of it’s volunteers.

Irene Worden, and her sister Joice Bloecher-Kastner, have volunteered their time and wonderful artwork for more than a decade here at the Talent Shop.

The store gives seniors the chance to showcase their creativity, and display their hard work

Joice began building dollhouses years ago, and each has been perfected with every new creation. “ 25 years ago my husband died and I began to build houses for my grand kids at Christmas,. I have been doing it for years."

Both sisters have their own niches, Irene’s favorite pieces to create are ones made of fabric. "I quilt, I embroider, I really do whatever has to be done."

Although both sisters clearly have different talents-- they agree on one thing. "It gives satisfaction that somewhere along the line some little girl is going to be very happy."

The sisters have sold hundreds of items through the Talent Shop. They say they love the store, and love the people they meet. Worden says, "It’s a wonderful place to come and do volunteer work."

You can help the Talent Shop this Saturday by donating to their donation drive. The drive will be conducted in the greater Wausau area from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6. Donations can be dropped off at the following locations:
