A 29-year-old Wausau man accused of shooting at two people in August says he's not guilty.

Ka Yeng Xiong, 29, is charged with two counts of attempted murder. Police say the victims were in a car on Pardee Street on August 5, when Xiong shot at them. One person was injured by flying glass.

He remains behind bars on a $250,000 cash bond.

In August Deputy Chief Bryan Hilts of the Wausau Police Department said the entire incident started with a confrontation between Xiong and the victims, outside the Paradox Bar on Third Street an hour before the shooting.

Shortly after the confrontation, Hilts says two people drove to the 1700 block of Pardee Street, where Xiong lives. That's when Xiong came out of his home, and opened fire on their vehicle.

The shooting spree also damaged neighboring property.

"I know that there was a house that had a window damaged, there was another house that had a bullet lodged in the siding and I believe there was another car that was struck twice," Hilts said.

He says seven to 10 rounds were fired, and police located several 9 millimeter casings at the scene.

Xiong, who has a lengthy criminal record and has been convicted of criminal damage to property, battery, burglary and disorderly conduct, obtained the gun illegally.

A motion to reduce Xiong's bond was denied. He remains behind bars on a $250,000 cash bond.
