A local community is paying tribute to a fallen hero in a loud and fast way! The Central Wisconsin Raceway in Unity hosted the Jamison Kampmeyer Memorial Race Wendesday night.
The Marathon County sheriff's deputy died in the line of duty in March while doing his other job, battling a fire at the Abby Theater in Abbotsford.
Organizers of the race say everybody who knew Lt. Kampmeyer liked him the minute they met him. Kampmeyer became a part of the race track family by working as an EMT there.
All the money raised through grandstand admissions will be donated to Kampmeyer's family.
