Protesters lined the sidewalk outside of Congressman Sean Duffy's office in Wausau Friday afternoon in response to the debate over the Fiscal Cliff.
A press release from Wisconsin Action says they are protesting to "send a clear message: put the middle class ahead of millionaires and end tax breaks for the top 2%."
"I'm here today and I've been coming to Duffy since he got elected," said protester Joel Lewis. "I'm very concerned about the disparity of wealth in our country and I think a lot of the GOP's policies have led to that over time."
Sean Duffy's spokesman John Gentzel had this response to the protest:
Congressman Duffy has always supported tax reform that generates more revenue from closing loopholes, limiting deductions especially for higher income earners and growing the economy to get more people working - so revenue is definitely on the table for the GOP. But Democrats have to put real, immediate spending cuts on the table, too. Don't be fooled - the President's so-called "balanced approach" - right now is tax hikes, tax hikes, tax hikes. Where are his spending cuts?
