The Spencer Police Department is investigating an attack that occurred Monday night.

According to a press release, a 42-year-old woman said she was jogging on E. Willow Drive around 8 pm, when a black man wearing dark clothing approached her and put his hands around her neck, while attempting to pull her in the ditch.

The victim says she kneed her attacker in the groin, he then released her.

The victim says she ran away and called her husband.

Spencer Police Shawn Bauer says the department takes incidents like this very seriously, and that type of behavior won't be tolerated.
