UPDATE: Victim in Wood Co. Fatal Accident ID'ed

The Grand Rapids Police Department has released the name of a 49-year-old Saratoga man killed Friday following a single vehicle accident.

Authorities say Douglas Coates, 49, died as a Mashfield hospital.

A 49-year old Wood County man is dead following an accident in the Town of Grand Rapids.

The accident happened near Whitrock Avenue and 64th Street South around 6:49 pm Friday.

According to the Grand Rapids Police Department, the man was ejected from the vehicle and pinned under a tire of the vehicle. The Wood County man was later extricated from underneath the vehicle's tire and was flown to Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield. He was later pronounced dead.

The Grand Rapids Police Department was assisted by the Wood County Sheriff's Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, Grand Rapids Fire Department, Grand Rapids EMS, United Medical Emergency Response, Wood County Sheriff's Rescue, Spirit of Marshfield, Nieman's Service Inc., and Wood County Coroner.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing. No further information regarding the identity of the victim is being released at this time.
