Authorities in Langlade County are putting officers around the area on high alert, after a 54-year-old man reportedly made threats to shoot officers.

A Lieutenant with the Langlade County Sheriff's office says they received information that John Shomo has weapons in his possession including a .308 rifle, a sawed off shotgun, and a semi automatic pistol. Shomo had previously lived in Antigo, but currently lives in Milwaukee. He says they don't know if Shomo is in the area now.

Online court records show he has an extensive history of burglary and theft convictions and law enforcement says he may be burglarizing again. Online court records show he was released from prison in April after finished his sentence and is currently on extended supervision.

Police are being asked to look for two vehicles-- a 1997 Oldsmobile Bravado with Wisconsin temporary license plate “K1706B” or “989-VPU” and a 1996 red Dodge Ram with Wisconsin license plate, “HE2477”. According to dispatch reports, Shomo's Probation Officer checked on his Milwaukee home and both vehicles were gone.
