The Wausau branch of the Honor Flight received a donation Friday to fly 10 World War II veterans out to Washington, D.C. to see their war memorials. The mission of the Never Forgotten Honor Flight is to fly area veterans who have served during World War II, the Korean War or the Vietnam War to Washington, D.C. at no charge to them.
The AT&T Innovation & Investment Award will present organizers, Jim Campbell and Mike Thompson will a $5,000 check.
State Rep. Scott Suder, a veteran and Honor Flight supporter, will also attend the event.
Since 2009, the organization has flown 828 veterans to our nation's capital. Nearly 400 veterans are currently on the Never Forgotten Honor Flight's waiting list, including more than 30 WWII veterans.
