The public is invited to a dedication ceremony on Friday to honor an Adams County Sheriff's Deputy who lost his life in the line of duty.
On March 7, 2003 Deputy Michael Shannon responded to a complaint of a armed man threatening a highway work crew in the Town of Strongs Prairie. The homeowner, Thomas Kramer, shot Deputy Shannon and was later arrested following a standoff.
Kramer's nephew said he was zealous about guarding his property.
The dedication will be held on August 24 at 8:30 a.m. At the Adams County Sheriff's Department.
Deputy Shannon had been a member of the Adams County Sheriff's Office for almost eight years.
Kramer, now 63, was found guilty of first degree intentional homicide and sentenced to life without parole in April 2004.
