The Marshfield man accused of murdering the mother of his child told a Wood Co. judge he's not guilty.

At a preliminary hearing Monday, the judge ruled there is enough evidence against Gabriel Campos for the case to go to trial.

The 20-year-old is charged with first degree intentional homicide in the death of 18-year-old Maisie McCullough.

The 2012 Marshfield High School graduate was found dead in the bathtub of Campos' mother's home in Marshfield on Sept. 7. An autopsy shows she died from a 5 inch-long slit in her neck that was made by a serrated knife. McCullough also suffered another smaller stab wound to her throat, as well as one in her back and several on her hands.

Campos was arrested at a Wis. Rapids Motel 6 the next day with their 2-year-old son, who was unharmed.

Marshfield police testified in court Monday that Campos had blood on his legs and in his car, and a blood-covered knife in his car that had both his and McCullough's DNA on it.

Police believe McCullough had recently ended her relationship with Campos before she was killed.

If convicted, Campos could spend the rest of his life in prison.
