Madison Police: 3 Charged in Counterfeit Money Scheme, Bill was 3/4 the Size of Normal $100

Three people are facing charges in Dane County in connection to a theft and counterfeit money case.

According to WMTV-TV, Police responded to Burnie's Rock Shop, a craft jewelry business on E. Johnson Street after two women attempted to make a purchase with a suspicious $100 bill.

Police attempted to make contact with the women as they walked away from the shop. Police say one of the suspects had the bill in her pants. The other suspect had items that had been shoplifted from the store. A third suspect was arrested for attempted fraud, retail theft and drug possession.

The woman are also accused of trying to pass the bill at two other Madison businesses.

An officer noted the that the bill was ¾ the size of a normal $100.
