UPDATE: Lincoln Co. Man Accused of Killing Wife Will Head to Trial

Online court records show the Lincoln County man accused of murdering his wife and then hiding her body will head to trial. Mark Bucki appeared in Lincoln County court Thursday morning for a preliminary hearing.

He's charged with first degree intentional homicide, hiding a corpse and strangulation and suffocation. Bucki's wife, Anita, disappeared back on April 26th. Two weeks later, her body was found about 20 miles from their home.

During the hearing, investigators say they found evidence that puts Mark Bucki at the scene of where Anita Bucki's body was found. They also testified he had a girlfriend at the time of her murder and was already in the process of making plans with her for the future.

A judge also ruled today that Bucki's $2 million dollar cash bond will not be modified. A scheduling conference is set for the end of next month.

The Merrill man accused of killing his wife and dumping her body in swamp in Taylor County is expected to learn if his case will head to trial later this summer.

Mark Bucki, 49, is charged with first degree intentional homicide, hiding a corpse and strangulation.

Thursday's hearing set a future preliminary hearing date for July 25.

UPDATE: 5/14 at 5:13 p.m.

Mark Bucki, 49, is behind bars on a $2 million bond after he made his first court appearance in Lincoln County Tuesday afternoon.

He's charged with Anita's murder, hiding a corpse and with the strangulation and suffocation. Investigators say he has been under investigation since the night of Anita's disappearance on April 26th, but has been cooperating with law enforcement.

Investigators say they found blood on the living room carpet of the Buckis' house, on Mark's boots, jeans and a hat. They're still waiting on lab results to confirm it's human blood, as Mark was an avid hunter.

Cadaver dogs also hit on Mark's pickup truck and what appeared to be a shallow grave with nothing in it.

The dogs also hit on a shower in the home and burn barrel outside, according to the criminal complaint.

Mark told investigators that he cleaned some of Anita's belongings out of the basement, ripped carpet out of a bedroom and burned some of Anita's items the day she was reported missing.

During an interview with NewsChannel 7, Anita's family says Mark and she had been married for 23 years. However, she hadn't been staying with him in the two weeks prior to her disappearance.

Anita's cause of death has not yet been determined however the pathologist says she had seven stab wounds to the chest and bruising on her neck and throat.

Mark Bucki is expected to return to court May 23.

UPDATE: 5/14 at 9:41 a.m.

The Lincoln County Sheriff's Department says the husband of Anita Bucki will make is first court appearance Tuesday afternoon.

The criminal complaint is also expected to be available at that time.

UPDATE: 5/13 at 2:13 p.m.

The Lincoln County Sheriff's Department says a body found Friday in neighboring Taylor County is that of Anita Bucki.

Bucki had been missing since April 26. Her husband, Mark Bucki told investigators the two had stayed up late talking and when he awoke at 5 a.m. Anita was missing.

Mark Bucki is expected to be charged with his wife's murder.

The remains were discovered about 20 west of the Buckis' home.

The Lincoln County Sheriff's Department denied our request for an interview. The cause of Anita's death has not been released.

The Taylor County and Lincoln County Sheriff's Departments say the investigation into the body found in Taylor County is still ongoing.

The autopsy is being performed in Madison at the Wisconsin State Crime Lab to determine the identity of the remains found.

There has been no further word on the investigation since authorities wrapped up their work Friday evening.
