The Stanley-Boyd District Administrator says the financial institution where the school banked has retrieved a good portion of the $150,000 taken by an online hacker. An exact amount was not provided in a news release.
Jim Jones says the hackers apparently accessed direct-deposit files from the Nov. 23 payroll. He says the district's liability insurance will cover the loss.
Despite the theft, all district employees were paid Friday.
Jones says the district does not blame AnchorBank, where the school's accounts were held.
AnchorBank spokeswoman Jennifer Ranville says the bank is helping district employees close out their accounts and open new ones in case their account information was compromised.
The FBI is investigating the case.
