Governor Scott Walker has appointed Grady Hartman of Rhinelander to serve as Sheriff of Oneida County.

Former Sheriff Jeff Hoffman announced his retire late last year after 38 years of service. He said he looks forward to spending more time with family.

Sgt. Hartman worked as a Patrol Officer for 5 years before being promoted to Patrol Sergeant at the Oneida County Sheriff’s Department, where he has worked since 1999. Sgt. Hartman is the youngest officer promoted to sergeant in the history of Oneida County and, currently, serves as the SWAT Team Leader. In addition to his work in the Sheriff’s Department, Sgt. Hartman also is the town supervisor for the Town of Crescent and is a school board member for the Rhinelander School District. Sgt. Hartman graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin at River Falls.

“I am excited and humbled at this opportunity to serve the citizens of Oneida County as their next Sheriff,” said Sgt. Grady Hartman. “I am fortunate that there are great employees at the Sheriff’s Office and we are anxious to get back to work.”
