Fundraiser Planned Thursday for Jamison Kampmeyer Memorial Wall

Thursday an Abbotsford restaurant will donate 15 percent of its sales to a fund to build a memorial wall in honor of a firefighter who died earlier this year.

The Dine to Donate program runs from 11 am to 8 pm on November 15 at the Pizza Hut in Abbotsford, 801 East Spruce Street. Patrons wishing to participate must present a special flyer at the time of payment. ( To print a flyer, click the link above)

Momentum for the project is thanks to Jacob Miller, 14. He is working on earning his rank as an Eagle Scout. Miller originally planned to build a memorial honoring veterans in Dorchester, but after Kampmeyer lost his life battling a fire at Abby Theatre back in March, Miller decided he wanted to do something to honor him.

The memorial wall will be built from concrete, brick and copper. Symbols of Kampmeyer's status as both a fallen firefighter and deputy will also grace the monument.

The memorial wall will be located right outside the Colby Fire Department's main entrance.

If all goes well, Miller plans to begin construction on the monument next May.

If you would like to donate, but are unable to attend the event you can check out Jamison Kampmeyer Memorial Wall on Facebook. You can also call Miller at (715) 654-5240 or email him at boomiahs_bro@yahoo.com. Donations can also be sent directly to Mid Wisconsin Bank.
