Fire Destroys Stevens Point Home

UPDATE: 4:11 at 4:42 p.m.

The Red Cross says they'll be providing assistance to two families affected by an early morning fire in Stevens Point.

The fire is believed to have started around 3 a.m. in the garage of a home located on the 1100 block of Soo Marie Avenue.

By the time fire crews arrived the home was also engulfed in flames. A neighbor will also not be able to stay in their home due to smoke damage.

At this time, a cause is still under investigation.

Crews are on the scene of a 4-alarm house fire in Stevens Point. It started early Thursday morning near the intersection Soo Marie and College Avenues.

Officers say the fire started in the garage, spreading to the rest of the home. The house was engulfed causing the roof to collapse. Everyone inside the home did make it out. Some cars were also damaged. The fire was so hot, police said they had to evacuate neighboring homes too. We still don't know what caused the fire.
