WAUWATOSA, Wis. (AP) -- Prosecutors have charged a Milwaukee man who was shot and wounded by police in a children's hospital after he allegedly brandished a semi-automatic weapon.
Twenty-two-year-old Ashanti Hendricks was charged Monday with four offenses.
Police say they shot Hendricks twice in the arm Thursday. They were responding to a tip that Hendricks was at the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, and likely armed. Hendricks had a warrant out for being a felon in possession of a weapon.
No one else was hurt.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports the complaint reveals that Hendricks eluded officers three times during a foot chase on the hospital's seventh floor -- and even took off running after he was handcuffed.
Hendricks' attorney says it's too early to say how Hendricks will respond to the new charges.
