Each year more than 1,700 children and spouses of fallen military members spend a weekend together as part of "Snowball Express." This year the group heads to Dallas, Texas with all expenses paid by the organization and sponsorship parter American Airlines.

Heidi Dampier and her three young daughters live in Weston and have taken part in the annual trip since the death of her husband, Army Private First Class Grant Dampier, in 2006.

The girls enjoy getting to meet other kids, while Heidi appreciates the significance of the trip.

"I think it's amazing, because my kids get to see that they're not the only ones," Heidi Dampier said. "Here in Wisconsin, especially where we are, there's no other kids that they can relate to. So this way, they can relate, they see other kids and know that they're not alone"

This weekend, the families will head to Six Flags Over Texas, take part in a tree lighting and childrens parade, and enjoy a private concert from actor Gary Sinise and the Lieutenant Dan Band.
