United Way of Marathon County is coordinating EITC (Earned Income Tax Credit) Day from 8am - 12pm on Saturday, February 16, 2013.
Volunteers from the AARP Tax Aide Program will complete income tax returns for Marathon County residents eligible for the EITC at no charge.
Eligibility is determined by income, marital status and number of dependents and varies greatly.
You do need to be working and must file a federal tax return to claim the credit.
To make an appointment for tax preparation and to find out if you're eligible for the free help on February 16th, call United Way's 2-1-1 from 8 to 5, Monday through Friday.
2-1-1 operators can tell you what documents to bring to your appointment. They will also be able to provide you with referrals to other free tax preparation assistance programs in the community.
