Democratic Leader Blasts Walker Over Budget

The Democratic leader of the Wisconsin state Assembly says a new projection showing Wisconsin faces a $143 million budget shortfall illustrates irresponsible action by Gov. Scot Walker.

Assembly Minority Leader Peter Barca issued the statement Thursday in reaction to the new estimates from the nonpartisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau.

Barca says Walker's policies have left Wisconsin fiscally unsound and caused the state to fall behind on the road to economic recovery.
Barca says Walker's economic plan isn't working.

Walker views the new figures differently, saying he believes the state is headed in the right direction after Republicans made tough budget choices last year to balance a $3.6 billion shortfall.

Barca is considering running against Walker in a recall election.

Wasn't there a childs story that stated a person who told a lie their nose would grow? Has any late pictures of Walker came about? I am sure his nose has really grown. No budget shortfall, oh wait we do have a budget shortfall. Which is it Gov. Walker?

Walker stated he had a balanced budget. He came out on TV and stated this comment! If so why does he need to rob the forclosure account? Why rob from the poor who already are knee deep in touble? What is Walker saying? Does he or does he not have a balanced budget? How can we believe this guy? His comments change as the wind blows. Whom ever believes what Walker said will hear another story tomorrow. I can not believe this guy.

Walker and Van Hollen said the majority of the settlement amount earmarked to Wisconsin under a $25 billion proposed nationwide agreement announced Thursday still would go to aid consumers in Milwaukee and other communities struggling with the specter of home foreclosure. But of a $31.6 million payment coming directly to the state government, most of that money - $25.6 million - will go to help close a budget shortfall revealed in newly released state projections. Van Hollen, whose office said he has the legal authority over the money, made the decision in consultation with Walker.

Are you infering that the money will be indirectly funneled to Walkers pet projects and businesses deals within the budget?

I thought the budget was balanced. Walker said that on TV. I am sure it was no lie. Well maybe, he speaks from two sides of his mouth! Always has.

I would propose that we cut all government funded insurance as well as corporate tax deductions and credits for providing health care, while simultaneously developing a policy that works for all. At this time, we have the government financially supporting health care for the poor, the old, and businesses, but unless you are covered under one of the three, you are jobbed.

$150 per month for health insurance? Try paying your own without government aid or corporate participation...about $500 per person. So which are you? When will people realize that the Dem's take money and use it on the poor and middle class. The Republicans take the money and give it to the rich...or cut the benefits of governnment from the poor and middle class and give it to the rich.

Maybe he could give 4 million of his funds to help reduce this problem, he thinks he has already won the recall so what to do with all these extra funds? What a hero , one person reducing the problem, Scott set an example and ask all your big time money contributors to do the same and Wisconsin will solve the budget problem. Go ahead and take the lead!

I thought Walker and the repubs fixed things, instead it got worse.

Makes one wonder about the intelligence of the Democratic leader .. Certainly he knows that Walker arranged to pay off the debts that previous admin illegally took away from other funds ... and after getting out of the 2 BILLION deficit, now already only has 143 million to go.... Great job Walker !!! Thank you!.. Maybe others will express their disgust at the Dems for almost bankrupting our great state. Just look south to see what almost had to happen..
