As General Motors announces more than 3 million additional vehicle recalls, local dealers are struggling to keep up with the maintenance demand. Stark GM in Merrill services Chevy, Buick, and Cadillac, all of which are vehicles impacted by the recall.
They say that it is taking up to a month for them to get the necessary parts in from GM in order to perform the repairs. It is something that has impacted GM dealerships nationwide. The service center says all the attention the recalls have received has prompted many people to bring their cars in.
"Any time there is a news story or a new announcement of any kind we tend to get a flurry of phone calls from people whose vehicles aren't even involved in the recalls. They tend to get concerned and want their vehicles checked out and we are happy to do that for them." says Service Manager Norm Johnson.
While Stark assures customers that vehicles are safe to continue driving until the proper parts come in, they do encourage them to remove any bulky items from their key chains in order to reduce the risk of any ignition problems from occurring
