CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (AP) -- A Wisconsin woman whose son was kidnapped by his father decades ago will spend her first Thanksgiving with him since he was 2.
Kathy Amaya, of Chippewa Falls, was reunited with her 37-year-old son David on Saturday in San Diego.
Amaya tells the Leader Telegram, of Eau Claire, she recognized David as soon as she saw him. She says he has his father's eyes and her nose.
David's father took him to Mexico when he was 2, and he was raised there by his grandparents.
Amaya says she didn't know where her son was until earlier this month, when he was stopped at the border while trying to enter the United States.
Amaya and her son flew back to Wisconsin on Tuesday. She says having him back is overwhelming.
