An Antigo High School Special Education teacher is expected to be charged with possession of THC following an extensive investigation in Langlade, Lincoln and Shawano Counties.
Joe Adams, 54, resigned from the Antigo School District on March 7. Prior to that he had been on paid administrative leave since January 20. Charges were filed February 9. Monday in Langlade County Court, he pleaded not guilty to one count possession of THC. Another Antigo High School Special Ed teacher, Mark Incha, 45, is expected to be charged March 30 for the same crime. He also resigned March 7 and had been on paid administrative leave since January 20.
Jay Peterson, 49, a middle school teacher and high school coach is also facing the charge in Langlade County. He too will return to court on March 30.
Scot Peterson, a former Antigo High School football coach and retired special education teacher, is facing 26 charges including manufacturing THC. Court documents state Scot Peterson admitted to selling marijuana to Incha, Adams, and Jay Peterson along with two other Antigo District employees; Jeff Neufeld and John Lund. Currently no legal action has been taken against Neufeld. No charges have been filed yet against Dan Wittman, an elementary school gym teacher also on paid leave. John Lund will return to court March 19 to enter a plea to eight drug charges. Lund is the former principal of Pleasant View and West Elementary schools. He was also the high school football coach.
According to the criminal complaint, Incha told investigators on December 6 he obtained a gram or two from Scot Peterson, at Peterson’s home. Incha told police the last time he bought marijuana was summer time. Police also questioned Joe Adams on December 6. He told investigators he smoked “dope” on the weekends, and had also purchased it from Scot Peterson. Adams also said John Lund would give him a “bud” or a “blunt” once in awhile.
Jay Peterson told investigators he had picked up a bag or “dope” from Scot Peterson once or twice. Jay Peterson is the brother of Scot Peterson. Jay Peterson said he would get a joint or bowl during deer season, and knew other people from Merrill were getting it there, too.
Merrill School District Interim Superintendent, Bruce Anderson told NewsChannel 7 in January, Pete Miller, a former athletic director and scorekeeper for the school is no longer working for the district. However, Miller is still a referee for the WIAA and may have contact with the school in that way. Anthony Crabb, a substitute teacher has also been relieved from teaching future classes with the school. To clarify, Miller and Crabb are not on paid leave. However, Jay Peterson was placed on paid leave. Monday, in Langlade County Court Crabb pleaded not guilty to one count of possession of THC. He'll return to court April 9 for a status conference. Miller is expected to be charged March 30.
