Many of you have that list checked off, gifts for your kids and neighbors. But what about those who might not see their family this holiday? Its called Be a Santa for a Senior.
All you need to do is stop by the Associated Bank in Stevens Point or Plover and pick a tag off the tree with either male or female on it. Then get shopping! There is a list of suggested items to buy, but you can buy anything you think a senior citizen might enjoy.
While simple items like slippers, puzzles or blanket all make great gifts, its about so much more.
"It is more about the delivery and the person coming in, giving them a little companionship," said Jeff Culver, Client Care Coordinator for Home Instead Senior Care, "just hanging out with them for a little bit just so they have someone to talk to, even if its just for a few minutes."
After you purchase the item, take it to the Home Instead office at 101 Division Street N, Suite 6 in Stevens Point, where the gifts will be wrapped and delivered.
Not only can you help a senior by buying them a gift, if you know someone who could benefit from this program, you can give their name to the office, and they will add it to the list.
They are accepting gifts until December 13th.
Home Instead Senior Care is also looking for volunteers to help with the wrapping process. They will be wrapping gifts Monday, December 16th at their office: 101 Division Street North, Stevens Point, WI.
If you would like to add someone to the program, call the office at: 715-843-7100
