A 17-year-old Tomahawk teen accused of sleeping off a meth high while the child he was caring for was found outside, is due in court Wednesday.
Tyler Leder is charged with neglecting a child, possession of drug paraphernalia, and felony bail jumping. Wednesday's hearing will decide if his case will move forward.
According to the Merrill Police Department, on March 22 an officer responded to the home for the complaint of small child outside alone. The girl told the officer she was trying to get her dog back in the house. The officer entered the home after he was unable to get anyone to come to the door.
Police say Leder was found sleeping and drug paraphernalia items were next to him. He told police he had smoked meth that morning.
The officer said the house was a mess and dog feces was on the floor.
Leder is free on a $2,500 signature bond. A judge also ordered him to not be in the care of any minor children.
The child's mother is also charged with neglecting a child for leaving the girl in Leder's care.
