Always Stay Safe on Snowmobile Trails

Now that it's February, many people are ready to see a little less of the fluffy white stuff. Snowmobilers would disagree -- saying "the more snow, the better."

As of Thursday, snowmobile trail conditions were happy and healthy in Langlade County according to Dave Peterson, a director with the Association of Wisconsin Snowmobile Clubs.

"I've been on a good part of the trails in the county and I can't find a bump anywhere. Nothing to complain about," he says.

Travel Wisconsin gives Wausau area snowmobile trails a ranking of "good" along with Stevens Point, Wood County, and Spencer. Merrill's trails are ranked as "fair," while Langlade County, Rhinelander, and St. Germain are ranked "excellent."

Peterson says as long as you stay safe on the trails -- riding within your means and staying away from alcohol before hitting the snow -- you should be good to go.
