A child's safety is one of the top priorities for the State Patrol this year, and they're helping to ensure it with bus checks this summer.
State troopers have checked every school bus in the state this year to make sure they meet safety standards and the inspections won't end when the school year starts.
"While they're dropping their children off at schools, we'll show up there, count to make sure they're not over loaded, check the driver's license to make sure they're still valid and make a quick safety check," said Sgt. Mike Klingenberg of the Wisconsin State Patrol.
Klingenberg says more than 1,200 buses were inspected in North Central Wisconsin alone this summer.
