A short-handed staff of dispatchers in Wood County may be threatening the safety of people who live there. That's the word from the Sheriff.
He's calling it a crisis situation and is asking Wisconsin Rapids authorities for some temporary help.
The sheriff says that three positions remain unfilled at the center and they're expecting more employees to leave for medical reasons.
Wood County, Rapids and Marshfield are working on plans for a shared dispatch center, but the sheriff says Wood County needs a quicker plan.
