Wednesday the Village of Rothschild celebrated the grand opening of River Street Park. The park has a baseball diamond, soccer field, playground, shelter area, and a walking path that runs along the Wisconsin River.
Before the park, the Rothschild sewage treatment plant stood on this land for decades.
Neal Torney, Village of Rothschild President, says, "Well, any time you can enhance recreational opportunities I think it's a benefit and since this is such a pristine area along the river I think it's a very wise use of the land.”
And more development is in the works. Future plans include building a bridge across the river to meet up with the Mountain Bay Trail in Weston.
