Friday was the grand opening for the Lodge at Cedar Creek in Rothschild. It is the largest water park of its kind in northern Wisconsin. The indoor water park features 50,000 square feet of water recreation.
The resort also features 140 family sleeping rooms, a full-service restaurant and bar, and an arcade room, but you don't have to be a guest at the Lodge at Cedar Creek to enjoy all its amenities.
"We have overbuilt the size of the water park. That allows us to sell day passes, not only to individuals who want to come and visit the park for a day, but also to groups," says Amanda Sampey, marketing director for the facility.
The resort celebrates the Wausau area's historic logging area by incorporating a log-mill theme throughout the facility. It was a $30 million project and, so far everyone is more than pleased with the result.
