Merrill residents may still get their 4th of July fireworks despite budget cuts that eliminated the money for it.
Two weeks ago Patsy Woller, former Merrill mayor and publisher of the Merrill Courier, began a push to collect the $5,000 needed for the fireworks display.
"I felt this was not the year to cut fireworks out, but yet I understand why they had to do it.”
With the help of local businesses and residents they're now only $250 short of their goal, but they only have about five days left to raise the money.
If you'd like to contribute, you can drop off a donation at the Merrill Courier, or at a number of local banks. They are: Lincoln Co. Bank, Park City Credit Union, M&I Bank, Merrill Federal Savings & Loan, and River Valley State Bank.
