Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett is in Wausau today campaigning for governor.
While here, he was given an award by the Everest Men Respect Women Award for his actions against domestic violence.
In August of 2009, Mayor Barrett witnessed a domestic dispute outside the Wisconsin State Fairgrounds in Milwaukee, and stepped in to break up the incident.
As a result, he suffered head and hand injuries.
"I obviously had some issues last summer when I walked into a domestic violence situation, a thing that could happen to anybody anywhere in the state, it was nice to be recognized and I was touched by it," says Mayor Barrett.
Barrett is one of 18 candidates running for governor.
