Baseball may be the last thing on your mind when you step outside.

But a local man is hoping to change that with his brave, new business.

"My whole life has been about baseball, growing up as soon as I could walk, I had a bat in my hand," says Erik Greening, owner of Wisconsin Baseball Academy.

Antigo native and now entrepreneur, Eric Greening has a dream for those in central Wisconsin.

That's to get the proper professional instruction, anytime of year, on America's favorite past time.

"What we're looking to do is offer a place where kids can come during the winter when there's snow on the ground, obviously now's a great time," says Greening.

Saturday, the Wisconsin Baseball Academy will open its doors.

Kids of all ages of adults can practice their swing or pitching from one of five professional instructors.

One of them is Greenings's friend, Justin Berg, who happens to be a pitcher for the Chicago Cubs.

"Eric and I went to high school together, we graduated together, played ball together, and I just have seen him as a player and a person and I really think that he's doing a good thing," says Berg, who will take the role as lead pitching instructor during his off-season.

One of the unique features of the Wisconsin Baseball Academy is the real dirt mound, which gives pitchers an authentic feel all year round.

But that's not all.

"One of the greatest things we do with out instruction and our lesson is called digital motion analysis and what allows us to do is videotape the swing during the lesson and instantaneously put it in the computer so we can analyze during the season," says Greening.

"I really wish I had something like this when I was in high school," Berg said.

Wisconsin Baseball Academy will offer a free one-hour clinic on Saturday, Dec. 19th for kids 8 years and older. Participants need only to bring ten non-perishable food items to be donated to a local food pantry.
