One man is wounded after being shot in the arm while hunting Saturday.

At 2pm Saturday, the Shawano County Sheriff's Department received a call of a possible hunting accident in Bartleme Township on River Road. Deputies say the accident occurred on the north side of River Rd approximately 3/10 mile East of Moheconnuck Rd on Stockbridge-Munsee Tribal property.

Deputies say a deer drive was being conducted, when one of the hunters mistook another member of the hunting party for a deer. The wounded hunter was struck in the upper right arm.

The man was then transported by Tigerton Ambulance to Wausau Aspirus Hospital. His condition has not been released.

The incident is under investigation by Wisconsin DNR Warden Horne and Stockbridge-Munsee Tribal Wardens.

The incident is believed to be an accident.
