Standoff Ends Without Violence

Marathon County Crisis Negotiators helped bring a safe ending to a standoff near Abbotsford that lasted for several hours.

It began around 2 p.m. in the afternoon in a town of Holton residence. Authorities say a man armed with a handgun wouldn't make contact with police but was believed to be unstable.

Two women had been in the home with the man initially but were able to get out of the home.

Police closed off Boss Road while they persuaded the man to come out. He eventually did and was put under arrest.

No one was injured in the standoff.
