Wausau school officials have put together a task force to try to stop the dramatic increase in teen drug abuse. One thing they're looking into is random drug testing of student athletes, but members of the task force like director of pupil services John Waldron say implementing a policy like that is still a long way off.
"We're still in an information gathering phase. We're trying to gather as much information about,” says Waldron.
Waldron adds that if random drug testing is implemented it would only be a small part of a comprehensive strategy to curb drug use.
The task force was created last fall and is made up of law enforcement officers, school administrators and counselors.
