More than half of the members of the 951st Sapper Co. based in Rhinelander and Tomahawk are back on American Soil. The rest of the unit is expected to return within a few days.

The unit spent 10 months in Afghanistan. They performed dangerous missions, including searching for explosives.

The soldiers will spend some time at a base in Mississippi before they come back to Wisconsin.

The Wisconsin Army and Air National Guard says a welcome home is being planned, and details will be released soon.

Sadly, the 951st returns home without one of their fellow soldiers. Sergeant Ryan Adams of Rhinelander was killed in a rocket-attack last month.
