Finding a little extra cash may be as simple as cleaning out your closets.
Rachel Cumber, the owner of a Hidden Treasures Consignment in Rothschild says most people have hundreds of dollars worth of stuff they're not using.
Consignment shops have been around for decades... but Cumber says now people in the red are heading to resale shops in hopes of bringing back some green.
Hidden treasures has been in Rothschild for about 2 years...and despite the economy the owner says business is good.
Cumber says they're seeing an increase in people looking to dump their old duds.
If they are able to sell your items you receive half of the profit.
Even though you don't get the money right away, she says there are benefits to using a consignment shop instead of having a garage sale.
"We recommend people give consignment a try it's a lot less work than a rummage sale because we take all the work out of it for you. "
They primarily take clothing, shoes and household items.
For example if you drop off something and they sell it for $50, you just made $25 bucks.
If you have clutter you'd like to cash in, you'll need to schedule an appointment.
Your merchandise is put on the selling floor for 60 days but she says most items sell within 2 weeks.
"We take just about everything here are a bunch of places that do," says Robert Hartman with Pawn America.
Sporting goods, musical equipment and electronics are some of the things you can unload at Pawn America in Schofield.
Hartman is the Store Manager says you could get about $10 for a single disc CD player and between $5- $70 dollars for an old tube TV.
"People take their old TVs and put them in a backroom or a garage we take those things because there are a lot of people out there looking for a good quality TV."
They also suggest cashing your old CDs, DVDs and video games.
Some stores will give you about a dollar per item.
