Local Food Pantry Shortage

With a tighter national budget, the government isn't providing the pantry with as much of the basics, including cheese, milk and meat.

Two years ago, they helped more than 100 families, sending them off with two full bags of food. Now, the pantry serves twice the amount of families, only providing them with a few items.

"When commodities have gone down it becomes difficult for us to handle all these new numbers," says executive director Tom Rau.

If you would like to help the Neighbor's Place, you can drop off non-perishable food items at their 745 Scott Street location in Wausau.
