The lingering drought is not only taking a toll on nature, officials with Wisconsin's Department of Natural Resources says it's also having a big effect on residents who at one time lived on the water.
State officials say some waterfront homeowners in Northern Langlade county have literally watched one lake vanish before their eyes.
Lady Lake near Antigo has plunged more than five feet leaving local docks high and dry.
Ranger Terry Trapp says many of the area's that once held water have now turned into meadows.
Trapp says the drought that began back in 2002 or 2003 has continued in the Northern portion of the State, while the Southern portion has had large amounts of rainfall.
